I was in Costa Rica for much of 1991, after the earthquake I did disaster relief, and then I stayed there and taught/tutored schoolkids in Drake Bay (at a wilderness/tourist camp). I LOVE Costa Rica...beautiful country, beautiful people. Yo estaba en Costa Rica durante gran parte de 1991, después del terremoto que hice el alivio de desastres, y luego me quedé allí y enseñé / tutorizado schoolkids en Drake Bay (en un campo desierto / turísticos). I KNEW TOM POST & FAMILY IN COSTA RICA
WHEN i volunteered to do disaster relief after the earthquake in costa rica in 1991 I was greeted by Tom Post and family at the airport in San Jose, and they took me in and gave me room & board for a few weeks as i helped do "needs assessment" with the CRWRC team. Tom was the director of the central american CRWM at the time (now called world renew) (sorry if I mix up crwrc and crwm and world renew..it's getting more and more complicated all the time in my mind). Anyways, in 1991 i was 24 years old at the time. Without reciting the entire story, this is more of a message I hope will find its way to Tom Post and family. I want to apologize for my behavior. Although I thought I was a "Christian" at the time (because I grew up in the CRC , and attended a Christian college, and went to church, etc) I was NOT a full Christian, even if I did believe in Jesus Christ. I was still only partial Christian, and still being pushed & pulled by secular society, maybe even demons. Although I was still a "decent person" by most accounts and not doing anything "criminal" per se, I was still NOT a good person , and had much room to grow as a "CHristian". Today, age 48, in 2015 I am more of a mature Christian, but still want to confess my sins to Tom Post and family and ask for their forgiveness for any and all sins. You were nice and hospitable to me and I could have been, should have been a better guest. Later, i saw you briefly in Belize and once again you were hospitable to me, allowing me to stay for a night at your house. Thanks again. I hope all is well. I hope we can be reconciled and talk as mature Christian adults...all of us forgiven sinners. God bless you.

slide-video ,historic photos: THOUGHTS & PRAYERS for the MICHAUD FAMILY , DRAKE BAY OSA PENINSULA COSTA RICA , near Corcovado...as mentioned , this is a really great family...and so I made a slide-video devoted to them and their faith in Christ. I remember them from 1991, but now it is 2015...so many years later, and it was just a few days ago in November of 2015 that I finally heard from one of them (Adrian) by email. He informed me that Herb had passed away in 2009, but had accepted Christ as Savior before so doing...and that most of the Michaud family are all believers in Jesus, praise the Lord! We pray for them to keep the faith,and to keep growing in Christ, and to keep passing the Good News onward as we are called to do and privileged to do, according to the Great Commission.

I FINALLY HEARD BACK FROM DRAKE BAY WILDERNESS CAMP RESORT
SO I AM SO EXCITED I finally heard from the family I knew @ Drake Bay Wilderness Camp Resort in Osa Peninsula . "Little Adrian" as i thought of him back in 1991 sent me these emails a few days ago (November 2015) giving me an update on how the family is. Sadly, his father, Herb, passed away in 2009. He was an American man who married a younger Costa Rican lady, and they owned the camp together, and had three kids: Bryan, Adrian, & Dyanne. Bryan & Adrian were in 2nd & 3rd grade at the time in 1991. Most importantly, Adrian knows Jesus Christ as Savior and so does his mom and Bryan, and he says that Herb accepted Jesus Christ before he died! And they have hope for their sister as well. So here's what he had to say. Please keep them in your thoughts & prayers.

This is Herbert and Marleny's son, Adrian. Herbert passed away on the 27th of March, 2009. He had heart problems. Marleny is still here at the hotel running things and I am here with her.
We have been doing very well thank God. The years after my dad passed away were not easy and the slow down in the economy made things more difficult, but everything have turned out great. We have been steadily making improvements to the hotel and we have been blessed in many many other ways.
How did you get to know my dad and mom?

Thank you for sharing the picture! That is my brother Bryan on the far right, skinny me in the middle, my sister Dyanne on the left and my three cousins in the back. What is the name of the teacher that gave you the picture?
Oh yes, I do call them mom and dad :) It was definitely hard when my dad passed away, but I am not sad. He accepted Jesus as his savior before he died and the way it all came about was completely from Jesus. My mom, my brother and myself are in Jesus' hands and depend on Him as our savior. As for my sister, I believe it is only a matter of time, God's time. God has definitely done something great in our lives and continues to do so.
I am glad you guys have such great memories of your stay with us. We don't have a newsletter, but if you have Facebook we would love to keep up with you through it. We also have a Facebook page for the hotel where we periodically post pictures.

letter from barb in costa rica via janet ludema 6/20/89...i was in a relationship of sorts around 1988-89 in grand rapids MI after 1st meeting Barb during our semester in Spain. At some point in time she wanted more committment than I could give at the moment, but I wanted to keep our relationship going with greater committment (ie marriage) at a later point-in-time. She didn't believe that I was sincere, but I was. And somehow as evidenced by this letter (at the end) she came to the false conclusion that I was in a relationship with Kathy. Kathy was not a relationship. She was a fling. She actually was using me for her own personal reasons, and had no sincere interest in me ( i realized later). Anyways, Barb was a quality gal and I really admired her, but she didn't have enough confidence in herself to believe that our relationship could progress. She wanted "now or never" . And then she left for Costa Rica. I later went to Costa Rica myself and actually saw her there, but she was blank-faced towards me as if I was not a real person. She had turned herself emotionally completely off towards me. Very sad. Maybe she can talk to me now 24 years later. If anybody knows her, please ask her to email me:
